I didn't realise it was all a joke... Just thought he was an idiot. I see the humor in it now... but it's hard to tell... really... I just know too many idiots. And, please, don't humor me with "you know yourself, haha".

IC, well I can't be sorry for anything... but I can be pissed off at the people who were calling me an idiot for assuming you were serious. Never seen your posts in my life, mostly because I only use this forum for checking out buy and sell... and guild listings and such.

So many good points, do you think A-net can get them all in the game before the summer update? I hope so!

Heh, nice post. *nod*

If only that was true...

Any PVE players still don't understand PVP players not wanting to play PVE to unlock skills (see the reverse situation) or how there might be balance problems ?

Then please think about such an update.... and if you don't see the results, the funny canadian summarized them for you

Awesome post Blackie

Edit : oh, about that PVE is training for PVP thing... we can maybe assume it might have been the idea originally (= advertising GW as a mainly PVP game wasn't a blatant lie), but it's quite obvious that even if that was the case, the direction has now changed, like on grinding requirement (cf. Alex' post, etc), most probably because someone there said that the PVE-liking players were too big of a market share to lose... and now you have 2 half-assed parts ?

Wait, there IS a place in PvE where one of your teammates can get airspiked: At the very end of Abbadon's Mouth. Ever had a smartass W/Mo with mending and a sword charge in all Leeroy style, using sprint to make sure he's out of the range of your heals, and POW, smoking crater?

-edit-

Oh, right, to the OP: HA AHA HA HA AHA HA so true

Now if they REALLY want to make it reflect PvP, they gotta make those ranger mobs slow on their distracting shots, rather than interrupting instant-cast spells thru glyph of sacrifice (Yes, I tested it and it happened), oh and yeah, have them run up next to you, throwdirt, whirling defense, dust trap, barbed trap, kite, kite, kite, kite.

Also, if they want to reflect random 4v4, they gotta have at least 1 or 2 monk bosses that run protective bond, balthazar's spirit, and essence bond, a team of mobs with a lifebonding monk, etc.

...wait.

Actually, to get REALISTIC, I think a really creative thing for ANet to do to PvE is allow dual-classed mobs, and more than 4 skills on a boss.

However, it is also funny to see mobs do stupid things, just like noobs, and give you a easyer time than if they played smart.

So I suggest that mobs have random skills, for each mob you have preferred, "normal", disliked and "barred" skill picks. For example: charr would have fire preferred, and water barred. The Elite should be based upon the boss in the area that matches one of the classes.

However, add some extra thought to the selection, every time that a critter beats a player, all it's skills gain a point. And every time a critter gets whupped, they loose a point. Not the critters, his skills. Then, when new critters are spawned, the points for skills skew the result. So mobs tend to use skills that work ... now that would make things interesting.

Lot of pretty good suggestions

And I am nearly serious actually! More monks in mob would make the game more interesting and give mesmer a better role. I'd dare to say it would make the game more interesting in PvE, which is good in and for itself. Even if it does not train for PvP, that would be good!

However... Most PvErs would tell you that AI is already good enough as far as un enchanting and un hexing capacity go. No need for nature renawal, AI cast Rend and Chiblains like there is no tomorrow. As soon as you see a mesmer or a necro, you know the critter got enchant removal...
The one thing AI does not handle well is condition removal; and that is somehow related to no monk.

Also: quite a few AI Necro got putrid, and they use it decently. I wish they had Nova too

So yep, Bring in the healing/ protection monk in PvE ! A hell lot more of them!

And more multiclass group.

Whether it's good for PvP or not, that's an open question, but that would make PvE more challenging, and am all for that.

Hmm, i miss the days when posts like these could be taken seriously. Honestly, just using pvp and GW in the same sentence means sarcasm these days

Great post though... truth ... sarcasm ... humor ... prepare to get banned.

/on a serious note: turning GW pve into pseudo-pvp would be a great idea. You know, where skill time > time, and where farming dumb mobs does not give you 20x the rewards/h as "regular gameplay" in boring missions like thunderhead.

Pre-Searing is the part of the game I, being a PvE player, liked most. I was shocked to find out that I no longer could solo without henchmen in Post-Searing. The monk UW build posted some weeks ago gave me back the feeling of having fun in the game, since it enabled me to do some parts of maps like I did in Pre-Searing: with only 1 chr!

No, PvE is certainly NOT meant to prepare for PvP! Anet is clear about this: They understand the differend needs of PvP and PvE players and they support both ways of gaming. Its simply up to us how to play.

I think for the moment maps are too crowded with creatures only meant to stop botting. Its walking around, seeing a mob patrolling, and than just before you reach them there's a hidden monster(group) with dispelling/poison/whatever abillities. Same pattern over and over again. More variations are needed to make PvE gameplay interesting.

Does anybody else think that ANet will take this post more seriously than PvP concerns?

Oh, /clap for Blackace. Kickass post, kickass thread.

This thread should be stickied.

Oh, you're forgetting, when the players arrive in an area and ettins and tengu are beating the crap out of each other, they stop, tell each other to gang up on the players.

Have some mobs consist of 2-3 Arena Ra/Mos that keep running around rezzing their whole mob back up to full strength. Have some mobs w/ that ranger have monsters leave early.

Have groups of monsters with 2 Fast Casting Mesmers and 2-3 Death Necros that have roughly 105 health to begin with. Because waves of minions are great fun.

How about a prot monk that puts up bonds and spellbreaker, balth spirit, and then his fellow monster casts nature's renewal all over the place?

Good thread.

EDIT: Just for kicks and giggles I decided to copy and paste Blackace's original post into Gaile's "State of the Game" thread and made it a request. I credited Blackace a couple times in the post and quoted the whole thing.

Hope you don't mind.

Some more elements of puzzle involved, like kill the wrong mob and the will blow on a horn that makes the enxt mob drop a gate or something. PUZZLES - somthing with clues and takes thought and makes it interesting. From the screenshots it seems like the new areas have potential for this.

Too bad for you. Maybe if you had a sense of humor, you'd have enjoyed it.

I love how horribly offended PvE players are getting over this. Apparently no one read the numerous articles/listened to the interviews stating that Guild Wars was competition-focused. Instead, the reaction was basically "What's this? A Free MMORPG! All my prayers have been answered! *buy*"
